Dr. Donelan
is a licensed clinical psychologist with particular expertise

Dr. Donelan draws

Richard Engebrecht is a licensed marriage and family therapist who enjoys working with children, their families, and individual adults. Richard has seven years of experience as a clinician, including four years as an elementary school counselor. He has been working with children and young adults in school and agency settings for the past 19 years.
When seeing adult clients, Richard uses many different tools to facilitate change, but primarily relies on the techniques and processes of Hakomi, a body-centered psychotherapy, which integrates western psychology, advances in neurobiology, and the mindfulness practices of Buddhist meditation. He believes that decreasing unhealthy stress, restoring trust in relationships, and changing self-limiting belief systems can lead to transformation. Dr. Harris is a licensed
clinical psychologist who specializes in treating children
and adolescents. Her main areas of interest
include the treatment of young people who are coping with
acute or chronic illness, and adolescents who have self-injurious
behaviors.
Dr. Harris has worked with people of all ages who show signs
of depression or anxiety, or who are coping with trauma,
post-traumatic stress, loss or abuse.
In the therapeutic relationship,
Dr.
Harris's
style is warm and flexible, tailoring sessions to the client's
needs, using talk therapy, family interventions, play therapy
and art therapy.

Through Chris's education and
over 20 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist,
she has developed
her expertise in
clinical child psychology, working with ages 2 1/2 and
older; individuals experiencing depression and anxiety, and women's
issues, such as self
worth and exploration, infertility and menopause.
Chris's
practice is based on the belief that relationships in
every area of
our lives, past and present, greatly affect our happiness
and the potential to
live our lives to the fullest. As a therapist, her
role
is to help children and adults understand and overcome
relationship and personal
challenges by developing insights and using new tools
to lead to actualizing each client's potential. In addition,
Chris receives

to encourage intimacy and mutual respect.
Edith
(Dutch) Key, MFT,

Dutch Key is a marriage and
family therapist who sees adolescents and adults, specializing
in depression
and anxiety, and
life changes such as divorce, retirement, menopause
and “empty nest”.
Dutch also especially likes working with couples,
on communication and intimacy issues.
In working
with survivors of trauma, Dutch uses
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
when appropriate. She enjoys supporting people
to grow and make the changes that bring
more contentment to their lives. Dutch Key has been
practicing in Alameda at CCA for 23 years.

Dr. Perna is a licensed
clinical psychologist with a wide range of experience with
gay and lesbian issues, posttraumatic
stress disorder, drug dependence and recovery issues,
adolescent difficulties, depression, and couples counseling.
Dr. Perna
utilizes a wide variety of theories and techniques, such
as psychodynamic/insight-oriented therapy, cognitive behavioral/solution-focused
therapy and
family
systems therapy, to help clients resolve their conflicts.
In the therapeutic relationship, he strives to create an
atmosphere of
respect, security, and openness so that clients feel safe
to talk about the thoughts and feelings they are most concerned
about.
Since 1994, he has worked as a therapist
in a variety of settings, such as an intensive outpatient
adolescent drug and
alcohol program, a maximum security penitentiary, a Kaiser
child and adolescent psychiatric unit, and Girls, Inc. He
has been
with
CCA since 2003.
Debra L. Puryear, PhD, License #PSY 9002
Dr. Puryear has
been a licensed clinical psychologist since 1985. Her specialties
include conducting psychotherapy
with military dependents and active duty personnel;
women’s and
men’s issues; adolescent-parent interaction; couples and
family therapy.
Through using therapeutic techniques such as
psychodynamic/insight-oriented
therapy, cognitive behavioral/solution-focused therapy
and family systems therapy, Dr. Puryear helps people find alternative
ways
to understanding themselves and others. She has been with
CCA since 1988.
Daniel Volk, PhD, License #PSY 8948
Over the past 20 years, Dr.
Volk has developed expertise in helping clients with a broad
spectrum of concerns
including anxiety,
depression, relationships, parenting, work related
stress, addiction/recovery, loss and most major life
transitions.
Dr. Volk emphasizes a flexible
approach to matching his treatment methods and therapy
style with specific client needs. He is especially
interested
in creating
an
atmosphere of safety and respect, one where clients
feel understood, supported and able to discover
new options.
His training and interests
range from psychodynamic, insight-oriented therapy
to cognitive-behavioral/solution-focused and family
systems applications.
Dr. Volk received his Ph.D.
from the California School of Professional Psychology,
Berkeley in 1983.

Ann Wlad is
a marriage and family therapist who focuses on an empathic
dynamic approach to therapy
and frequently
incorporates cognitive/behavioral techniques in
her work with clients.
Her main
area of focus is working with adults experiencing
depression and anxieties as well as helping adolescents
navigate
the often difficult
transition into adulthood. Her belief is that
the client’s
experience of safety within the therapeutic relationships
is essential to healing and growth.
Ms. Wlad received
her Master’s Degree
in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University,
and has clinical experience working in public agencies,
schools, as well
as private practice. Ann Wlad has been affiliated
with California Counseling Associates since 1995.
